About School

Nizampur Government College is located in Mirsarai Upazila of Chittagong District, about 60 km from Chittagong city and port, and 25 km south of the Indian border on the corner of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The history of the area dates back to the independent Sultanate period, when the region was historically known as 'Nizampur Pargana'.

Before independence, due to the lack of higher educational institutions in this area, it was not possible for students to pursue higher education despite their willingness. To expand education, local residents became eager to establish a college for higher education. With this aim, Sheikh Mohammad Cholaiman (popularly known as 'College Cholaiman') and the then Headmaster of Sarkarhat N. R. High School, along with prominent local personalities, agreed to establish a college in this pargana in February 1964.

To realize the dream of establishing the college, a committee was formed with Mr. M. A. Bari, the administrator of Chittagong Sadar North Subdivision, as president and Mr. Sadequr Rahman, the then vice-principal of Chittagong Government City College, as secretary, along with 175 members. Initially, despite the arrangement of a place in Mastannagar under the initiative of Mr. Shamsul Alam, the establishment was not possible due to a lack of management. Later, when the then subdivision administrator decided to donate the school land of Sarkarhat N. R. High School to the college, ceremonial activities began at Sarkarhat with the financial support of the eminent social worker, the late Mr. Saidur Rahman, and the dedicated efforts and financial donations of the local people.

The institution was officially established on February 14, 1964, and its academic operations and classroom activities officially commenced on June 30, 1964, with the admission of students for the 1964–65 academic year.

Under the Chittagong Education Board, Higher Secondary courses are offered in Science, Humanities, and Business Studies; under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, Business Management and Technology (BMT) is offered at the Higher Secondary level; and under National University, Undergraduate (Pass) courses in BA, BSS, BBS, and BSC are offered, along with Bachelor of Business Administration (Honors) programs in Accounting and Management.
